April Update

April was spent in Madagascar where I’d previously worked in the Capital of Antananarivo in October. This time we headed north to the town of Diego and eight of us spent a relaxed week on the beaches of this idyllic area exploring the silver sands and aquamarine seas. Snorkelling and diving, swimming and eating seemed to consume much of our time, although the odd (very odd!) game of water polo featured, as did Karaoke with Jeanne under the influence of a couple of evening beers. ‘Fields of Athenry’ never sounded so good! After an indulgent Easter weekend back at Antananarivo it was back to work. A series of lectures in the University for a few days with the assistance of Miriam, led to the challenging trip across the island to the City of Tamatave where I attended the Annual Rheumatology Conference with Clare and Tom. Lecturing in French proved alright until the questions started coming in!
