getting About again
plans for 2021
With the continued uncertainty over the pandemic, our work has continued virtually. We’ve conducted teaching sessions for medical students at KCMC using Zoom and have held weekly research meetings with our Glasgow University and Tanzanian colleagues and field teams to ensure smooth progress is being made with research data collection along with the development of clinical services in Rheumatology.
We’ve purchased and started to develop land for farming in both Uganda and South Sudan for our Orphans and Refugees, so that they can not only grow their own crops but also have a role to play as they complete education and return to the land of their birth to grow their own lives and careers - and pay it forward. We will soon have a link to Paypal to allow donors to contribute to specific initiatives that we’ve set up. And there will be a link to an interview about our program, and another to an illustrated talk on our first four years in Africa which is being delivered live tomorrow evening and recorded for you to watch later.
I intend to get across to Tanzania in April if possible, with a medical friend to further support teaching and research and allow her further clinical experience there. I also hope to visit Uganda and Kenya in August with family members to develop education and agriculture. This is all dependent on the pandemic and could yet be torpedoed if the virus takes a further hold on East Africa. Whatever happens in the short term, I guarantee we will continue to support and develop all these initiatives and maybe more!
